Purpose of usage
Rubber bearing seals are used to protect the bearing and prevent external dust, dirt, metal particles, moisture, acid gas or other debris from intruding into the bearing interior. If the bearing seal is not firm and foreign debris invades, the working state of the bearing will be affected to a certain extent, and the service life of the bearing will be greatly reduced. Bearing seals prevent grease from escaping from bearing components. If there is oil leakage, the normal lubrication of the bearing will be destroyed, so that the bearing will be damaged due to frictional heating and the temperature will be too high, and it will not be able to maintain normal work. Unqualified seals can also cause oil leakage and pollute mechanical equipment and products in process.

Type
- Contact rubber bearing seals are rubber components bonded to a steel insert. The seal exerts continuous pressure on the inner ring of the bearing to create contact. By making direct contact with the inner ring, it is difficult for contaminants such as dust, dirt, and moisture to enter the interior of the bearing. It also does a good job of sealing the lubricant inside the bearing.
- Non-contact rubber bearing seals, like contact seals, are components bonded to steel inserts. The main difference between the two is that the non-contacting seal is fixed on the outer ring and does not put pressure on the inner ring of the bearing. This is designed to prevent the ingress and leakage of contaminants, but not to the same degree as a contact seal.
- A labyrinth rubber bearing seal is a bearing isolator that combines contacting and non-contacting seals in one assembly. Labyrinth seals generally consist of multiple parts, one that remains stationary and one that rotates with the system. The two parts interlock and form a thin, grooved path that is long and difficult for matter to escape or penetrate the bearing. It keeps contaminants out and prevents leaks without touching the inner ring.
Principle of action
Rubber bearing seals are also called pressure seals, which are based on the physical principle of pressure difference, that is, a bearing seal that uses a sealing structure to make the pressure in the seal chamber different from the ambient pressure. The structure type of the seal is mainly divided into two types: static pressure seal and dynamic pressure seal. Static pressure sealing means that the sealed surface has no relative movement, its function is to separate the two spaces, and to ensure that the substances in the two spaces do not exchange. For the dynamic pressure seal, it relies on the dynamic pressure effect of the fluid to separate the sealed space and the environmental space.
